Recruit some passionate cooks and enthusiatic hosts
Offer a cookery day as part of the interview process to make sure all our hosts meet our high food and hygine standards. (Subject to Covid19 restrictions for Winter 21/22)
Introduce them to the Ski Beat menu guide in advance of the winter season so they can practice before they come to France
Incorporate cooking the menu as part of our pre-season training course
Ensure all hosts are producing fabulous food throughout the season
Result? Very satisfied Ski Beat guests who come back year after year and ask us for our recipes!
You might be thinking of applying for the role of Chalet Host or Resort Support but, would like to brush up your cookery skills before you apply and we can suggest a few cookery schools that we work with who provide cookery courses for budding chalet hosts.
Ski Beat’s Recommended Chalet
This year we have partnered with Snow Cooks, who are running courses for select weeks this summer in Plan Peisey in the French Alps.
They are also offering a tutored, online course designed to give you the cooking knowledge necessary to succeed as a chalet host in the 21/22 Winter season.
Online courses run for 6 days and start from just £250. Online courses are available most weeks throughout the summer period
There are still some 'in-person' spaces available if you want to get out and spend a week in the French Alps learning a whole 'host' of chalet skills. Spaces on the 'in person' alpine course are available in September and October.

Designed and delivered by current seasonaires and former Ski Beat chalet hosts, joining the Fresh Tracks team for a 1-week residential course in Polzeath, Cornwall will give you the experience, skills and confidence you need to become an all-round great chalet host. Alternatively comprehensive, engaging online courses are available for you to access year-round, enabling you to learn and practice at home at your own pace.

Based in Wandsworth, London, The Avenue chalet cooking course covers all aspects of work in the ski industry but, first and foremost, cooking techniques are patiently and thoroughly taught.
**Unfortunately our usual cookery school, The Hive, will not be running courses this year due to the pandemic.**
Founded by Ski Beats Ex-Area Manager Christina Hadden and based in some of Ski Beat’s chalets the stunning Vanoise National Park in the French Alps, The Hive operates throughout the summer, training aspiring chalet hosts how to be the best in the business.
